Application:
1. Agriculture: Sodium nitrate can be used to make various fertilizers, supplement nitrogen fertilizer needed by crops, and promote plant growth. In addition, it can provide the nitrogen elements required by plants, promote plant growth, and be used to control some plant diseases and pests.
2. Industry: Sodium nitrate has a wide range of applications in industry. It can be used to manufacture chemical products such as nitric acid and sodium nitrite, as ingredients in the glass, match, enamel, or ceramic industries. Sodium nitrate is also used to manufacture catalysts in the sulfuric acid industry.
3. Food processing: Sodium nitrate is widely used in the production of meat products such as cured meat, sausages, ham, etc. It can inhibit bacterial growth, extend the shelf life of food, and give meat products a unique taste and color.
4. Medicine: Sodium nitrate is mainly used in medicine to treat angina pectoris and certain types of hypertension. It dilates blood vessels, reduces the burden on the heart, alleviates angina symptoms, and helps control blood pressure. In addition, sodium nitrate may also be used for preoperative preparation and heart failure treatment in certain heart disease patients.
5. Other applications: Sodium nitrate is also used as a nitration reagent in the manufacture of dye intermediates, defoaming agent, passivator, clarifying agent, and oxidation flux for laminated glass. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as a heat treatment agent for ironmaking and aluminum alloys; In the light industry, it is used as a combustion enhancer for manufacturing tobacco; In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a culture medium for penicillin; In the fertilizer industry, quick acting fertilizers are particularly suitable for acidic soils.
